Summary

The Flex is Alen’s simplest, no-app purifier that still brings credible, verified CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) and quiet low-speed performance. Sized by Smoke CADR (191 CFM), it’s excellent for bedrooms and smaller living rooms at our ≥5-ACH target. If you add the VOC/Smoke filter (2.3 lb carbon) it becomes a strong all-rounder for light–moderate smoke/odor/VOC loads in those room sizes. Just note: no Auto/AQI, and it’s not a true large-room machine.

Here's what this purifier does best

  • Verified performance + zero ozone: ENERGY STAR lists Smoke 191 / Dust 209 / Pollen 245 CFM; 0.0 ppb ozone.
  • Quiet on low: Brand spec ~25 dB(A); independent test still comfortably quiet; great for sleep.
  • Meaningful gas filter option: VOC/Smoke cartridge with ~2.3 lb pelletized carbon for odors/VOCs/wildfire smoke.
  • Simple, reliable UX: Physical buttons with 2/4/12-hr timer and child lock; no app headaches.
  • Reasonable upkeep: Genuine filters $69–$119 about annually.

Consider these trade-offs

  • Not a large-room workhorse: ≥5 ACH tops out around ~285–290 sq ft (8-ft ceilings).
  • No Auto/AQI/voice: You set speeds manually; no real-time sensor adjustment or app controls.
  • “700–1,400 sq ft” marketing is 1–2 ACH: Fine for brand coverage math, but use CADR/ACH for health-grade sizing.
